Shining Like The Moon
Shining Like The Moon
Hello everybody from the wonderful LAP blog :) If you have read my LAP Clubs and PA Journey reflection, you may recognize me. But, I want to introduce myself to people who don't know me. I am Betül. My major is Psychology at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Moreover, I am a Peer Advisor and Board Vice Director of the LAP Club.
Do you remember your "best self" in your life? Let me give you time to think. I remember my "best self" in my life. I was experiencing brain fog and felt pretty bad. I was craving to be saved from this difficult condition. I was trying to find a solution and my strength. What is my strength or Am I strong anyway? While I was fighting with these questions in my brain, a message came to me from a person whom I like and take a role model. It was written: "Betül, you are shining and you don't need to be completed for shining. You're already shining. I am happy to know you as a shining friend. There are so many things which we will learn from you." At that moment I had a realization that I was shining like the moon! The sun always shines every morning, but the moon shines in the dark. I am strong in the face of difficulties and can overcome them because I am shining like the moon. Well, How did I realize my strength? This story is related to my PA Journey.
The date was the ninth of May. We were starting PA's third course. I was so excited to learn new information on the way to becoming a PA. A session was about “revisiting our best selves”. I thought and told my best self that I mentioned in the paragraph above. Thinking and understanding my best self helps me become aware of a lot of things in my life. Also, I name my best self: “SHINING LIKE THE MOON”. In addition, I feel like an advisee in this session although I was there to become an advisor☺ I am aware of my strengths thanks to the PA Program. It is such an important journey in my life, not just a learning journey. We are aware of something when we learn new things and when we are aware of something, we change things in a better way. We’ve had wonderful sessions since the beginning of the PA Program. We learnt some principles, how we can effectively communicate with people, listen to them carefully, be aware of something, and put into action something that we were aware of. We shouldn’t forget that every good thing starts with awareness.
PA program always gives me good moments. The best memories that I’ve had belong to PA Program and LAP Clubs. Nowadays, we are enjoying a challenging but enjoyable way to launch our LAP Social Club. We study hard to support our university students in their learning. We’ve grown and improved ourselves on the PA journey. I was such an excited and newborn moon when I started the journey. I realize that now, I am a complete and shining moon in the dark at the end of the PA journey. The learning journey never finishes, but we have come to the end of PA education and we will be the first big team of certified peer advisors in Turkey. I will never forget this journey in my life because it taught me a lot about life.
I hope that the following PAs will have a great PA journey as well!
